St. Pauli: Former talent Leon Flach returns to Europe after MLS

After four years in Major League Soccer, Leon Flach (23) returns to Europe. The midfielder joins Polish champions Jagiellonia Bialystok. Flach has signed a contract with current third team Ekstraklasa until June 30, 2027, including an option for another season.

Flach trained at FC St. Pauli and made the jump to the pros in the summer of 2020. After nine appearances in the second division (one goal), the talent decided to settle in his native United States. United, at the Philadelphia Union, where Flach immediately became a regular. He played 116 games (two goals) for the MLS club where his contract had expired. In the 2022 season, he narrowly missed out on the league title with Philadelphia in the penalty shootout against Los Angeles FC (3:6).

He is also well in the title race with his new club. Jagiellonia is only three points behind leader Lech Poznan. In February, Flach will also participate in the European Cup for the first time. The Poles will meet Serbian representatives FK TSC Backa Topola in the intermediate round of the Conference League.
