According to Sky, the 21-year-old midfielder ended up on the list of Werder Bremen and Union Berlin. Both clubs occupy single-digit positions in the upper house and with their current form they have little to worry about remaining in the league. A winter transfer could be just as interesting for Castrop, who looks set to make the jump to the Bundesliga.
In the summer of 2023, Nuremberg signed the central midfielder after a previous loan from 1. FC Köln. 450,000 euros were due for this, a worthwhile investment. Since the start of the loan in January 2022, Castrop has increased his market value from 200,000 to 3 million euros and has played 77 matches (five goals, six assists) for FCN. According to the TV network, Castrop’s contract runs until 2026 and an extension will likely only become an issue if a promotion is imminent. With 18 points from twelve matches, Nuremberg currently sits in seventh place and is four points behind first place.
