OM: Mughe refuses CAN with Cameroon

François-Rgis Mughe refuses CAN day with Cameroon.

Summoned by Cameroon coach Rigobert Song, François-Régis Mughe refused the invitation to participate in the CAN. The young player prefers to rest at Olympique de Marseille, without having to take advantage of absences in the club’s offensive sector.

Olympique de Marseille officially has 8 participants for the CAN. But after the choice of François-Régis Mughe, there are only 7 left.

The 19-year-old will have the effect of rejecting Cameroon’s call-up, without needing to have a chance to play during the absences of Ismaïla Sarr, Iliman Ndiaye (Senegal) and Amine Harit (Morocco).

Mughe without guarantee from OM

For its part, the Marseille club confirms that the decision comes from the player who would not have received any regarding his use. Potential recruits could well stand in his way in the weeks to come.

It should also be remembered that Mughe has no selection with Cameroon. Far from being a first choice, the Marseillais was able to note that seven other attackers appeared in Rigobert Song’s list. Which could explain his reluctance, or rather his preference for the club which extended his contract until 2028 last December.

The Marseillais exposes a sanction

Cradle of Douala and strength of a brand of confidence despite its 7 appearances this season in all competitions. Our colleagues nevertheless point out that Mughe, in the event of a decision taken without the agreement of the Cameroonian Federation, is exposed to a sanction if the body is contacted by FIFA. The Marseillais could be suspended until the elimination of the Indomitable Lions at the CAN.
