AS Monaco will come back to within three points of PSG after the success in Brest this evening, on the occasion of the 12th day of Ligue 1.
AS Monaco is behind PSG. Pointed to six points behind the reigning French champions before the kick-off of their match against Brest, this Friday evening at Louis II, the Principality club came back to three lengths behind the leader thanks to their 2-1 victory.
The Monegasques started the game strong by opening the scoring through Akliouche (4th), well served by Ben Seghir. Dominant, notably thanks to great pressure, the men doubled the lead on a strike at the entrance to the area by Golovine (24th). A nightmarish first period for the Bretons, who also lost Lees-Melou due to injury, clearly having a fibula injury
Great investigation for Lees-Melou, Akliouche sees double
But upon returning from the locker room, Eric Roy’s squad reignites the suspense. Following a corner, Sima reduced the score with an uncrossed header (49th). But the Monegasques ultimately did better than hold on, sealing the fate of the match thanks to a double from Akliouche (90th + 1). Ajorque’s goal (90th + 5) changed nothing.
Building on this new victory, Monaco consolidates PSG’s place as runner-up, before welcoming Benfica Mercedi next in the Champions League. On the son’s side, Brest did not prepare as well as possible for its shock against FC Barcelona on Tuesday evening.
