Anthony Martial will be absent for around ten weeks after a successful operation. His club Manchester United announced it on Wednesday. The 28-year-old striker probably won’t be able to add much to his 317 appearances for the ‘Red Devils’ as his contract ends next summer. Martial’s operation was carried out to control his groin problems.
In the current season, he played 19 matches in 629 minutes and scored four goals. The last time the French striker featured in a competitive match was on December 9. Although Man United have an option for a further year of contract, it is not assumed that this will be taken up by the English record champions.
Martial left AS Monaco for Old Trafford in 2015 for 60 million euros, and the injured right (Site notre bureau spécialisé) increased his market value to 65 million euros (January 2018). Martial is now far from this best value; he is valued at €15 million – which still makes him one of the most valuable free transfer professionals in 2024. From January to June 2022, Martial played on loan at Sevilla FC.
