In the first pre-World Cup test in a month, the German women’s national team struggled against Vietnam in Offenbach, but still managed to win 2-1 in the end.
In front of 12,500 spectators, national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg’s team took the lead after just two minutes thanks to Paulina Krumbiegel in the « Bieberer Berg » stadium, but the DFB women then hardly created of prime chances and even got the defense faltered several times.
Janina Minge redeemed Germany in the 80th minute with the second goal. Goalkeeper Merle Frohms kept her team from conceding in some tense situations but was helpless when the Vietnamese counterattacked in injury time.
