Botafogo’s purchase frenzy Rio de Janeiro continues. A few days before the end of the Brazilian transfer period, the Santiago Rodríguez club presented a new addition. The 25 -year -old Uruguayer costs the equivalent of 14.3 million euros and with bonuses up to 16.2 million euros. The attacking midfielder is in fourth place in the most expensive purchase classification in the history of the club.

Rodríguez was initially loaned by his couple from the city of Montevideo from the city to the NYCFC in 2021, and he was committed two years later. For the US Club, he finished 144 games in which he contributed 34 goals and 28 models.

With Rodríguez, botafogos climb spending this winter at more than 62 million euros – maximum value in Brazil. The serial A clubs have now paid 263 million euros in replacement and are only overvalued by the Premier League (503 million) (for an overview). For example, the Bundesliga amounts to 181 million euros. The Brazilian transfer window ends next Friday.
