Curious scene from Klopp
Arsenal FC stole a point from Liverpool in the Premier League showpiece match. The “Gunners” have so far kept the hosts at bay with a 1-1 draw in the standings, coach Jürgen Klopp’s team overtook Aston Villa, one point behind the Londoners.
Reds striker Mohamed Salah canceled out Gabriel’s early lead with his 12th goal of the season in the 29th minute. As a result, the Egyptian has caught up with leader Erling Haaland in the ranking of the league’s top scorers and is now alone second. The Norwegian from Manchester City, new winner of the Club World Cup, whose match against Brentford was postponed, occupies first place with 14 goals (see the list of scorers).
In between, Klopp suddenly found himself in the middle of the action on Sunday at Anfield. After Arsenal striker Bukayo Saka physically attacked Liverpool defender Konstantinos Tsimikas, the Greek brought down the German coach. Tsimikas then had to be replaced due to a shoulder injury. After the break, Liverpool missed the winning goal: Trent Alexander-Arnold hit the crossbar of Arsenal’s goal after a counter-attack (73rd).
On Sunday, Chelsea FC can stay in the top half of the table with a victory at Wolverhampton.
