Castaignos was considered a big talent early in his career, he moved to Inter Milan early on, who sold him to Twente Enschede after a year with just a few appearances but at a profit. From there, the 15-time national U21 player moved to Eintracht Frankfurt, where he scored five goals and three assists in 22 games.
However, the breakthrough on the Main was not sustainable, Castaignos always remained erratic in his career. Via Sporting, Vitesse Arnhem and Gyeongnam FC in South Korea, he found himself at OFI Crete in January 2021, which he left again last summer to remain without a club. At FCM, he could fill the vacancy in the storm. As part of the TM community previews of the transfer window, user ‘OpaH13’ recently wrote: « The club are currently exploring the transfer market carefully, and they are obviously looking for attacking and midfield reinforcements. An important condition: they must be seasoned players who can help immediately.” That applies to Castaignos, he can now prove in training camp.
