Transfers, transfers, transfers… Even though Bundesliga matchday 34 is yet to come and all nine matches are at stake, personnel planning at Bundesliga clubs is already in full swing. A cult Hertha kicker, a surprising turnaround and Bayern’s dream player for the six. Among other things, that’s what today’s breakfast news is all about.
Kruse soon back in Berlin?
It would be a message that would certainly cause a stir in Berlin. Max Kruse, who has been without a club since the end of his contract with VfL Wolfsburg at the end of November, has just spoken about him at Hertha in an interview with YouTuber ‘Diyar AC’. The former Unioner doesn’t want to rule out signing with slightly less popular city rivals Köpenick. « Before remaining unemployed, of course I would do the same, » says the now 35-year-old.
Whether this will actually happen, however, is questionable. His favorite goal remains the Bundesliga. A specific interest from Hertha BSC Berlin has also not yet been documented.
But who knows, maybe there will soon be a reunion between Max Kruse and Florian Kohfeldt in West Berlin. Werder fans should go green at the thought.
U-turn when filling the pitcher?
Speaking of Werder: many Bremen supporters were probably already resigned to losing at least one, if not both, « ugly birds » this summer. However, a Niclas Füllkrug departure doesn’t seem as certain as recently assumed. As ‘Sport Bild’ report, the Bundesliga’s top scorer can certainly imagine staying in the Hanseatic city.
However, the club are expected to offer him a long-term deal for this which is also expected to be increased financially. Füllkrug’s current contract runs until 2025 but stipulates that the 30-year-old will receive a 15% pay cut from the coming season. ‘Sport Bild’ also reported on this pungent contract detail. This clause was agreed when the contract was concluded due to the striker’s advanced age.
Have Bayern found Kimmich’s counterpart?
It’s no longer a secret that Bayern are looking for a defensive six in addition to a classic nine. Over the past few days, it has increasingly leaked that West Ham United’s Declan Rice should be the absolute dream fit for Germany’s record-breaking champions. Thomas Tuchel in particular is hugely impressed with the England international.
The « Hammers » probably insist on a transfer fee of 100 million euros. As ‘Sky’ journalist Florian Plettenberg announced yesterday on Twitter, the FCB should be able to pay this sum. Negotiations have not progressed however and so far it seems unclear what the desire of the player, who is also being courted by Chelsea and Arsenal.
Although a scene at West Ham’s training session yesterday should certainly fuel rumors of a switch to Bayern…
video of the day
A video of Declan Rice is currently circulating on TikTok and Twitter, in which he appears in good spirits for the « Hammers » workout and surprisingly greets the media with « Guten Morgen » in German. Is the midfielder deliberately fueling Bundesliga move rumors, or does he just want to brag about the number of hours he’s spent on ‘Babbel’ over the past few weeks?
It’s happening today
There was a time when the duel between Manchester United and Chelsea was the absolute best game in the Premier League. This season at least the « Red Devils » have returned to the Champions League, the « Blues » are in a disappointing twelfth place.
