2692

The summer transfer window was once again marked by expensive player changes. Some clubs were very keen to shop around and significantly improved their squad. At least when you look at the spending. We have listed for you the ten clubs that spent the most money this summer. To do this, we offset the spending with the income.

10th place: Al-Ittihad Club (88.55 million euros)

The Saudi club got involved: the most expensive transfer was that of former Leverkusen player Moussa Diaby, for 60 million euros.

9th place: Atlético Madrid (91.1 million euros)

Atlético were really in the mood to buy this summer, with the most prominent one probably being Julián Álvarez. The Argentine came from Manchester City and was also the most expensive transfer at €75 million.

8th place: Tottenham Hotspur (93.55 million euros)

In 8th place, we also have the first Premier League club. And we promise: it won’t be the last. The Londoners spent 93.55 million euros, the largest part of which went to Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth (63.3 million euros).

7th place: West Ham United (99.65 million euros)

We stay in the Premier League and we also stay in London. West Ham have also improved properly, notably bringing in Niclas Füllkrug for €27m. The German international was only the Hammers’ third most expensive transfer, with the most expensive new signing being Max Kilman for €47.5m.

6th place: PSG (103.42 million euros)

Of course, the Sheikh Club from the French capital cannot be missing from this list. They notably snatched Désiré Doué from Bayern for 50 million euros, only João Neves was even more expensive (59.92 million euros).

5th place: Olympique Lyon (105.04 million euros)

Yes, Olympique Lyonnais also had a very good time this summer. After a weak season, Lyonnais probably wants to return to the top category. Former Mainz player Moussa Niakhaté (31.9 million euros) should bring new stability to the defense.

4th place: Manchester United (111.50 million euros)

Buying sprees at ManU are nothing new, including this summer. At 18, Leny Yoro was the most expensive transfer; he came from OSC Lille for €62 million.

3rd place: Ipswich Town (124.84 million euros)

This is probably only possible in the Premier League, where a promoted team can dig so deep into its pockets. Six players came for more than ten million euros and are supposed to ensure their survival in the league. Well, at least we think so. No one was more expensive than Omari Hutchinson, who came from Chelsea for 23.5 million euros.

2nd place: SSC Naples (138 million euros)

SSC Napoli would probably not appear on this list if Victor Osimhen had moved shortly before the transfer deadline. This is how the 2023 master writes the numbers in solid red. Alessandro Buongiorno tops the list of Neapolitan purchases with a purchase value of €30 million.

1st place: Brighton & Hove Albion (182.91 million euros)

With a lead of almost 50 million euros (or behind, depending on your point of view), the club of former St. Pauli coach Fabian Hürzeler occupies first place on the expenditure side, there are 231.20 million euros, on the income side. this is only 48.29 million euros. Here too, a former Buli player made the biggest investment, Georginio Rutter from Leeds United for 46.7 million euros.

Any clubs in this list that you wouldn’t necessarily expect, or what do you think? And who would you rather have seen in the top 10?
