Union Berlin has officially announced the next addition in the current transfer window: 1.90 meter center forward Chris Bedia comes from Servette FC and has reportedly signed a contract in Köpenick until 2027. The working paper of the 27-year-old player in Switzerland would have expired at the end of the season According to consistent information, the transfer fee amounts to 2 million euros.
Bedia is expected to fill the offensive gap in the capital for Sheraldo Becker (background) who has joined Real Sociedad. The Ivorian has scored 13 goals in 17 league matches in Geneva in the current season and has also scored twice in the national cup, Europa League and Champions League qualifying. The left-hander, who joined Servette from Belgian club RSC Charleroi on a free transfer in January 2022, has since more than tripled his market value to €3 million (see history). Bedia has been in demand across Europe in recent weeks, including at Bologna FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Union rivals Werder Bremen, who reportedly have the attacking powerhouse on their roster.

Bedia is described as a sturdy striker who can use his stature to secure balls in the middle and impress with his speed in one-on-one situations. After the signing of central defender Kevin Vogt from TSG Hoffenheim, the Ivorian is the second addition to the Union in the current transfer window (overview).
“It has always been a dream of mine to play in one of the big leagues. At 1. FC Union Berlin, I am now part of a club full of history that inspires many people. I want to help the team with my strengths and support it every day with my ambition and I hope I can contribute some goals to its success and help Union stay in the league,” explained Bedia.
Sports director Oliver Ruhnert added: “Chris is a tall and powerful offensive player who can help us in attack with his physicality and goal threat. He’s a very positive guy who comes to us with a lot of joy and dynamism and we’re really looking forward to him.
