Klopp’s successor
Confirms negotiations

In the search for a successor for coach Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool FC, a lot obviously depends on Dutchman Arne Slot of Feyenoord Rotterdam. “I want to be the new manager of Liverpool. My decision is clear,” the 45-year-old said before the championship match against the Go Ahead Eagles on the “ESPN” TV channel.
“Feyenoord and Liverpool are in negotiations. “I’m going to wait and see what comes of this,” Slot also said. “We are waiting for an agreement, but I am confident it will work.” Slot still has a two-year contract with Feyenoord and a transfer fee of 10 million euros is under discussion.
According to media reports, the Rotterdam coach has been playing the role of big favorite to succeed the successful German coach for several days. Klopp leaves Anfield at the end of the season. Other names recently mentioned were club-less Niko Kovac and Portugal’s Rúben Amorim of Sporting Lisbon.
Slot has been successfully working at Feyenoord since the 2021/22 season, where he took over from Dick Advocaat. In his first season he reached the Conference League final with Rotterdam, a year later he led the club to their first championship since 2017 and last Sunday to victory in the Dutch Cup.
