DUCKS POOH 1 - 2 WORCESTER PARK

On a seriously bumpy undulating pitch Park overcame not only a very lively Barnes team but copious amounts of duck pooh and low flying birds seriously trying to emulate the Red Arrows.

Kicking off at the dreaded hour of 10 am Park soon found themselves a little under the cosh. A very strong Barnes midfield linked well with their tricky forwards and caused Park all sorts of problems defensively. However the lads stayed strong and held on to keep the score at 0-0 at the half time break. Whether is was Hurks half time talk or Halil's half time oranges that did the trick but Park found themselves 1 up after only two minutes of the restart. Persistent stuff from Carl saw him close down the defender and the ball rebounded off him over the goal line. No more than a minute later Carl making a surging run into the Barnes box, was hacked down unceremoniously, and the referee had no hesitation in awarding a spot kick. For the second week running some strange refereeing decisions unsued. James despatched the first penalty into the left hand corner only for the ref to order it to be retaken as a player had encroached into the penalty area. Penalty kick 2: James converts the penalty once more. Ref orders the kick to be retaken because he hadn't blown his whistle. Penalty kick 3: James finds the same spot as the first kick and by now the ref had run out of excuses to retake the kick and Park were 2 goals to the good. Park battled really well for the rest of the second half and at times played some really good football. Jamie kept his team in the match on two occasions. The first when a fierce Barnes shot was tipped on to the bar and the second when he just got a toe to a shot when on a one on one situation. Barnes thought they had got a goal back shortly before the final whistle when Park failed to clear in the box and the ball was headed towards goal. A Barnes player nodded the ball home from close in but unfortunately for them 3 players were in offside positions. Good job the lino was on the ball (donations welcome by the way!) The home side did get a consolation goal deep into stoppage time when a tall Barnes defender headed home from 6 yards.

Plus points for this game - three points - good battling performance - the drive home was not too bad
Minus points: Duck Pooh and I didnt bag a Duck for me dinner!!!!
